Dispensary Etiquette 101

We know that your first, second, or even third visit to a dispensary can be a bit daunting, so we’ve come up with a short list of tips and tricks to help you navigate any visit smoothly!

Tip #1: Have your ID handy

This may seem like a no brainer, but depending on local laws, you may be asked to show your ID at entry, at point of purchase, or both. Keeping it handy will make everything easier.

Tip #2: Research your local purchase limits

While the budtending staff at the dispensary will be careful not to sell you more cannabis products than is legal in a single trip, knowing the laws beforehand can help you avoid disappointment and better plan your purchase.

Tip #3: Know your terminology

You don’t need to be a cannabis expert when you walk in the door, but having an idea of what to ask for will greatly help the staff pinpoint products for you. This is especially handy if you’re there during a busy time! You can find a handy breakdown of common terms here to get you started.

Tip #4: Prep for payment

As of this writing, cannabis is not federally legal, therefore it cannot be purchased via credit card. This means that you’re either going to need cash, or check if your local dispensary can run debit cards. The good news is that dispensaries normally have ATMs on their sales floor; just be aware that you may be charged a fee for using them.

Tip #5: Tip your budtenders

Seriously, tip your budtenders. They work hard, often for low wages, to ensure you are getting the product you need or want. They deserve a few bucks thrown in their jar for a job well done.
